पश्चिम एशिया में चल रहे इस संघर्ष में भारी जानमाल का नुकसान हुआ है। आंकड़ों के अनुसार, ईरान में 1300 से ज्यादा लोगों की मौत हुई है, लेबनान में 1000+ मौतें और लाखों लोग बेघर हुए हैं। वहीं इस्राइल में 15 लोगों की मौत हुई है और अमेरिका में 13 सैनिकों की मौत हुई है।

Hours earlier, Amit Gupta's Gold Coast home had been raided by the federal police.

Investigators had spent weeks tapping Gupta's phone, probing sensational allegations he had backed a political coup on the small Pacific Island of Nauru by bribing multiple politicians who had plotted to topple the government. The new government, Gupta hoped, would give him complete control over the island nation's lucrative mining rights, but an arrest now could mean years in jail.

If these moments of apprehension, with the Australian police snapping at his heels, were Gupta's low point, they were fleeting. As his plane soared into the morning sky, his future stretched out brightly ahead.

In the decade since, this alleged corporate crime kingpin and fugitive from justice has built a global business worth an estimated $800 million.

This masthead has tracked Gupta to Dubai where, late last year, he got more good news: Australian efforts to extradite him had collapsed, rebuffed by the

Dubai authorities over a legal technicality. Gupta had defeated the AFP's extradition attempt using a legal technicality.

Australian police alleged he had engaged in a conspiracy to bribe Nauruan politicians over a decade earlier, but Gupta argued that given no such crime existed in the United Arab Emirates at the time of his alleged offending, he could not be extradited. The UAE authorities agreed and threw out the extradition request. That was in February 2023, but the development has not been reported until now.

The Nauru bribery scandal first erupted in 2010, when a report in The Australian alleged Australian police and intelligence agencies were scrutinising a plot by the then Gold Coast-based Gupta and his relatives to use bribery to effectively transform Nauru into a puppet state, with its only industry -phosphate mining - entirely controlled by Gupta's business interests.

It took the AFP two years, in October 2012, to tap Gupta's phone. Eight months later, they raided his Gold Coast home. In 2015, this masthead and the ABC reported on allegations that charges might be imminent. By then Gupta was two years on the lam.
Gupta's emails expose a systemic alleged bribery operation targeting Nauru's most powerful politicians with the aim of winning preference for his and his family's business, and particularly exclusive rights to phosphate and long, ongoing contracts. In doing so, his dealings threatened the political stability of the island nation of 13,000 people and stood to poison its democracy.

Records of Gupta company transactions obtained by this masthead suggest Gupta's questionable corporate behaviour from his Gold Coast base extended well beyond Nauru and the phosphate industry. Banking records suggest Gupta's companies also paid suspected bribes to senior Algerian officials for mining concessions in Africa, used a poverty-stricken Indian man as a "straw man" director of one his companies, and issued fake invoices for phosphate bought from countries such as Togo.

Leaked corporate and banking documents reveal how Gupta's companies generated a system of fictitious invoices and expenses to move money out of Australia, and how he avoided millions in Australian taxes.

Documents show the federal police's Getax investigation spent years tracking this global movement of funds. In 2020, the AFP moved to seize multiple properties and bank accounts connected to Gupta in Australia, Singapore and New York worth an estimated $200 million.

Agrifields DMCC. It is the name of the global fertiliser firm Gupta launched after fleeing Australia.

In a major development in the high-profile Sunland Projects Pvt Ltd case in Kolkata, the Alipore Police Court issued and executed search warrants across multiple locations, including the residence of promoter Amit Gupta in Ballygunge and those of directors Vivek Agarwal, Dinesh Agarwal, Vishal Agarwal, Subhash Chandra Khandelwal, and Govind Prasad Malpani.

The 18-page order from the Alipore Police Court authorized authorities "to seize and take possession of any forged documents, forged stamps & seals, computer-devices" and directed them to ensure that "every part and portion of the aforesaid office of the accused persons is needed to be searched thoroughly".

Court records in the Alipore Court case highlight procedural irregularities in a share transfer constituting 33.33% of the company's total shares. The documents were not signed by the petitioner, were not registered before a Public Notary, and the gift deed was not uploaded to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website. The matter has also been brought before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

On December 22, 2023, Kolkata Police lodged an FIR against Amit Gupta, promoter of Agrifields DMCC, alleging "fraudulent share transfer" of 1,510,000 shares, "forging and manipulating records," and "illegally striking off a loan of Rs 9,95,64,143 from Sunland Projects Pvt Ltd.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, "The US documents name Getax director Amit Gupta as the 'target of a criminal investigation who is alleged to have conspired with others to bribe foreign public officials and to have engaged in money laundering and other offences","

Court submissions indicate that Sunland holds real estate across India with assets exceeding Rs 700 crore. This includes the prominent Sunland Residency project in Rajarhat, which spans 54,000 square feet.

Amit Gupta is currently under criminal investigation in both Australia and India. The complexity of his financial dealings has come into sharper focus following Kolkata Police raids and scrutiny by several government agencies, including the Income Tax Department, which issued multiple notices to Gupta and his immediate family between March 22, 2022, and July 7, 2022.

Vivek Agarwal, son of Chouthmal Agarwal, has been identified as a co-accused in matters linked to Sunland Projects Pvt Ltd, which, together with its directors, is presently under criminal investigation and is also involved in proceedings before the National Company Law Tribunal in Kolkata.

An FIR was registered by Kolkata Police on December 22, 2023, at Rabindra Sarobar Police Station. The complaint alleges that the company's promoter carried out a "fraudulent share transfer" of 1,510,000 shares, engaged in "forging and manipulating records," and was involved in "illegally striking off" a loan of Rs 9,95,64,143 from Sunland Projects Pvt Ltd. The FIR states that these acts were allegedly executed in coordination with several co-conspirators, including Vivek Agarwal and Vishal Agarwal.

As per an 18-page order issued by the Alipore Police Court Chief Judicial Magistrate, Vivek Agarwal's residence on GT Road was searched. The police were directed "to seize and take possession of any forged documents, forged stamps & seals, computer-devices" and to ensure that "every part and portion of the aforesaid office of the accused persons is needed to be searched thoroughly".

Named as a co-accused and alleged conspirator, Agarwal faces potential imprisonment of up to 16 years if convicted on charges of fraud, forgery, and financial manipulation under the Indian Penal Code. Nonetheless, his punishment could be mitigated if the court determines a comparatively lesser role in the conspiracy.

It is also significant that his former business associate at Auditech, Subhash Chand Khandelwal, previously served as a director of Sunland Projects Pvt Ltd. The current co-partner is Pooja Agarwal. Documents presented before the Alipore Court reportedly point to procedural irregularities in a share transfer transaction involving 33.33% of the company's total equity.

The share transfer paperwork allegedly did not bear the petitioner's signature, lacked notarization, and the related gift deed was not uploaded to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs website. The matter has been brought before the NCLT for adjudication.

According to Auditech's official website, Vivek is described as a, "CA, DISA, CIFRS &CTax-UAE along with 15+ years of professional experience in managing & conducting the Management & Forensic Audit at Birla Group", referring to the Birla Group. Despite these professional qualifications, he now stands accused in what authorities describe as organized corporate wrongdoing, potentially impacting his professional reputation.

Sunland's promoter and co-accused Amit Gupta was characterized by the Sydney Morning Herald as a 'target of a criminal investigation who is alleged to have conspired with others to bribe foreign public officials and to have engaged in money laundering and other offences"."

Additionally, Vivek Agarwal's association with Auditech 360 Management Consultants has drawn attention. Questions have emerged regarding his financial sources, commercial relationships, and business practices. Scrutiny centers on the legitimacy of his income streams, the scope of his professional affiliations, and the transparency of his financial dealings-factors considered crucial in evaluating the legal and ethical standing of both Agarwal and his firm.

ईरान के इजरायल और अमेरिकी ठिकानों पर लगातार तेज होते हमलों के बीच अमेरिका ने हिंद महासागर में श्रीलंका के तट के पास एक ईरानी युद्धपोत को पनडुब्बी से हमला कर डुबो दिया है।

इस घटना के बाद श्रीलंकाई नौसेना ने बचाव अभियान चलाया, जिसमें श्रीलंका के दक्षिणी तट पर डूब रहे ईरान के नौसैनिक जहाज से 32 लोगों को बचा लिया गया और उन्हें अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया है। इसके साथ ही श्रीलंकाई नौसेना को समुद्र में डूबे ईरानी युद्धपोत से 87 लोगों के शव भी बरामद हुए। बताया जा रहा है कि ईरानी जहाज भारत द्वारा आयोजित इंटरनेशनल फ्लीट रिव्यू से वापस लौट रहा था।

इस घटना को लेकर अमेरिकी रक्षा मंत्री पीट हेगसेथ ने दावा किया है कि अमेरिकी पनडुब्बी से दागे गए एक टॉरपीडो ने हिंद महासागर में एक ईरानी युद्धपोत को डुबो दिया है। हेगसेथ ने पेंटागन में बुधवार को आयोजित एक संवाददाता सम्मेलन में बताया कि मंगलवार रात ईरानी युद्धपोत पर किया गया यह हमला द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध के बाद किसी दुश्मन पर इस प्रकार का पहला हमला था।

अमेरिकी सेना ने बुधवार को ईरानी युद्धपोत पर हमले का वीडियो भी जारी किया। वीडियो में पनडुब्बी से दूर समुद्र में एक युद्धपोत पर निशाना लगाते और फिर उसपर टॉरपीडो से हमला करते हुए देखा जा सकता है। अमेरिकी रक्षा मंत्री ने दावा किया कि एक ईरानी युद्धपोत को डुबो दिया गया, जिसे लगा कि वह अंतरराष्ट्रीय जलक्षेत्र में सुरक्षित है।

कांग्रेस ने भारत के पड़ोस में अमेरिका की इस कार्रवाई पर सवाल खड़े किए हैं। कांग्रेस नेता पवन खेड़ा ने कहा कि भारत के अतिथि– IRIS डेना, एक ईरानी नौसैनिक जहाज– को भारत के सामरिक आंगन में अमेरिका द्वारा टॉरपीडो से उड़ा दिया गया, जबकि वह भारत द्वारा आयोजित इंटरनेशनल फ्लीट रिव्यू से घर लौट रहा था।

बचाव अभियान का नेतृत्व कर रहे श्रीलंका का दावा है कि इसमें कम से कम 80 नाविक मारे गए हैं, जबकि लगभग सौ अन्य गंभीर रूप से घायल हैं या अभी भी लापता हैं।

अमेरिका और ईरान के बीच बढ़ते सैन्य टकराव के बीच अमेरिकी रक्षा सचिव Pete Hegseth ने संकेत दिया है कि जरूरत पड़ने पर ईरान में ग्राउंड ऑपरेशन से भी इनकार नहीं किया जा सकता। उन्होंने कहा कि फिलहाल ईरान की जमीन पर कोई अमेरिकी सैनिक तैनात नहीं है, लेकिन भविष्य के विकल्प खुले हैं।

‘ऑपरेशन एपिक फ्यूरी’ की घोषणा

रक्षा सचिव ने बताया कि राष्ट्रपति Donald Trump के निर्देश पर “ऑपरेशन एपिक फ्यूरी” शुरू किया गया है। उनके मुताबिक यह अब तक के सबसे सटीक और जटिल हवाई अभियानों में से एक है, जिसका उद्देश्य अमेरिकी हितों की रक्षा करना और ईरान की दशकों पुरानी शत्रुता का जवाब देना है।हेगसेथ ने कहा कि सैन्य रणनीति पहले से सार्वजनिक करना समझदारी नहीं होती। “दुश्मन को यह नहीं पता होना चाहिए कि अमेरिका कब और क्या कदम उठाएगा,” उन्होंने कहा।

ग्राउंड ऑपरेशन पर क्या बोले?

प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस के दौरान जब उनसे पूछा गया कि क्या अमेरिका भविष्य में ईरान में जमीनी सेना भेज सकता है, तो उन्होंने साफ किया कि जरूरत पड़ने पर ऐसा कदम उठाया जा सकता है। हालांकि, उन्होंने दोहराया कि अमेरिका बिना सोचे-समझे कोई कार्रवाई नहीं करेगा।

ईरानी जवाबी हमले और अमेरिकी सैनिकों की मौत

अमेरिका और इजराइल की संयुक्त कार्रवाई के बाद ईरान और उसके सहयोगी समूहों ने मिडिल ईस्ट में अमेरिकी सैन्य ठिकानों और इजराइल पर मिसाइल हमले किए। इन हमलों में चार अमेरिकी सैनिकों के मारे जाने की पुष्टि की गई है। राष्ट्रपति ट्रंप ने संकेत दिया है कि संघर्ष और लंबा खिंच सकता है।

47 साल की दुश्मनी का जिक्र

हेगसेथ ने कहा कि तेहरान का शासन पिछले 47 वर्षों से अमेरिका के खिलाफ “अप्रत्यक्ष युद्ध” करता रहा है। उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps और उसकी कुद्स फोर्स ने विभिन्न हमलों को समर्थन दिया।उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि “हमने यह युद्ध शुरू नहीं किया, लेकिन हम इसे खत्म करेंगे।” उनके अनुसार, यह सरकार बदलने की औपचारिक लड़ाई नहीं है, बल्कि अमेरिकी नागरिकों और हितों की सुरक्षा का सवाल है।

‘हम जीतने के लिए लड़ते हैं’

रक्षा सचिव ने स्पष्ट शब्दों में कहा कि अमेरिका “जीतने के लिए लड़ता है” और लंबे समय तक अनिश्चित संघर्ष में उलझने का इरादा नहीं रखता। उन्होंने कहा कि यदि कहीं भी अमेरिकियों को निशाना बनाया गया, तो अमेरिका बिना हिचकिचाहट जवाब देगा।मिडिल ईस्ट में बढ़ते तनाव के बीच अब अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय की नजरें इस बात पर टिकी हैं कि क्या यह संघर्ष सीमित हवाई कार्रवाई तक रहेगा या जमीनी अभियान का रूप ले सकता है।
